Description
3 packs 20 x 3 = 60 tablets
Composition
1 tablet contains
the active ingredient:
Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride – 15mg.
Pharmacological properties
Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial agent of fluoroquinolone group with a wide spectrum of action.
The preparation is active against Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms, especially against E.coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Serratia spp., Camphylobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Yersinia spp.., Vibrio spp., Aeromonas spp., Haemophilus spp., also sensitive to the preparation: Pasteurella multocida, Plesiomonas shigelloides, Campylobacter jejuni, Chlamydia trachomatis, Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium diphtheriase, Streptococcus spp., Brucella spp., Staphylococcus spp. (including penicillinase producing and methicillin-resistant strains), Mycoplasma spp., Mycobacterium spp.
The mechanism of action of ciprofloxacin consists in suppression of bacterial DNA-girase (topoisomerase II), as a result of which DNA replication and synthesis of bacterial cell proteins are disturbed, resulting in microorganism death.
After ingestion ciprofloxacin is easily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract (mainly in the duodenum and jejunum) and distributed in the organs and tissues of the body (except tissues rich in fats), penetrates the pleura, peritoneum, lymph, eye fluid and placenta.
The maximum concentration of ciprofloxacin in serum is reached after 1.5-2 hours, the therapeutic concentration is maintained for 24 hours after oral administration of the drug.
Ciprofloxacin is excreted from the body mainly in its unchanged form and partially as metabolites with urine and bile, in lactating animals also with milk.
Application
For the treatment of dogs and cats with chronic and acute bacterial infections, whose pathogens are sensitive to ciprofloxacin:
– respiratory infections
– gastrointestinal and bile-intestinal infections
– kidney and/or urinary tract infections
– genital infections
– skin and soft tissue infections cat and dog pictographs
– bone and joint infections
– secondary infections in viral diseases.
Dose
Cats, small dogs.
The pills are used individually by animals orally.
1 tablet for every 6.6 lb (3 kg) of body weight – 1 time a day for 3-5 days
Contraindications
During treatment, intensive insolation should be avoided in order to prevent photosensitization. The preparation should not be used: in case of marked cartilage tissue development disorders; in case of nervous system disorders accompanied by convulsions; in females during pregnancy and lactation in puppies and kittens until the end of growth period.
Interaction with other drugs and other types of interactions
Simultaneous administration of ciprofloxacin with theophylline, caffeine, indirect anticoagulants is accompanied by an increase in the concentration of these drugs in the blood. Antacids containing ions of aluminum and magnesium (Maalox, aluminum hydroxide), sucralphate, preparations containing ions of calcium, zinc iron, bismuth reduce bioavailability of fluoroquinolones. When using phenytoin increases the risk of seizures, especially in patients suffering from epilepsy. There is antagonism with nitrofurantoin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol.
