Indications
Treatment of dogs and cats with blood-parasitic diseases – babesiosis (pyroplasmosis), trypanosomiasis.
Composition
1 g of the preparation contains:
diminazene aceturate – 438 mg
phenazone – 562 mg
Pharmacological properties
Antiprotozoal drug of a wide spectrum of action.
Diminazene aceturate – ionic associate of 4,4-(diazoamino)-dibenzamidine with N-acetylglycinate – is active against protozoosis pathogens of genera Babesia, Trypanosoma, Theileria, has antibacterial and fungistatic properties. The mechanism of action of diminazene aceturate is to change the processes of aerobic glycolysis and DNA synthesis of protozoa, which leads to their death.
Phenazone has analgesic and antipyrine properties, reduces vascular permeability.
After application, the drug protects the organism of animals from reinvasion and restoration of activity of piroplasmosis pathogens for 10-15 days.
Method of administration and doses
Before using the drug, its solution of 3.5% is prepared.
To do this, in a vial with 0.24 powder add water for injection 2.5 ml, respectively.
The prepared solution is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously at a dose of 0.1 ml per 2 kg ( 4 lb ) of body weight.
If after a single injection the general condition of the animal has not improved, the drug is re-injected 24-30 hours later in the same dose.
Storage conditions
In a dark place at temperatures from +8 to +20 °С.
Store the drug solution in the refrigerator and use it within 14 days.
Shelf life – 2 years.
