Pharmacological properties:
Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic with a wide range of antimicrobial action, active against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including: Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Shigella spp., Brucella spp., Pasteurella tularensis, Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Salmonella spp.., Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, and rickettsia spp., mycoplasma spp. and chlamydia spp.
The mechanism of action of chloramphenicol is connected with disturbance of synthesis of proteins of microorganisms.
Application:
Treatment of acute and chronic ear diseases in dogs, cats and decorative rodents: otitis, eczema and dermatitis of the ear caused by chloramphenicol-sensitive microorganisms.
Dosage:
When treating diseases of ears with body weight up to 22lb (10 kg), bury 3-5 drops of the preparation, and with body weight over 22lb (10 kg) – 7-8 drops in each ear 2 times a day.
Before burying the preparation ears are preliminary cleaned of dirt, crusts, exudate.
The duration of treatment is 3-10 days.
Cautions:
The drug is incompatible with antibiotics from the quinolone group, as well as ristomycin, penicillin; inhibits the antimicrobial action of b-lactam antibiotics.
Form of release:
Vials made of 10 ml glass, covered with a rubber cork under the aluminum run-in, enclosed in a box together with a leaflet insert and a drip cap.
Storage:
Dry, dark, out of reach of children at temperatures between 40-77F (5°C and 25°C).
Shelf life – 3 years from the date of manufacture.
After opening the bottle can be used for 10 days if stored in a dark place at temperatures between 40-77F (5 ° C to 25 ° C).
