Description
3 packs 10ml x 3 = 30ml
CONDITIONS:
1 ml of the preparation contains active substances:
ivermektin – 1mg;
clotrimasol – 10mg;
fluorphenicol – 2.5mg;
betamethasone – 1mg.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Otoflox has antiparasitic, fungicidal and antimicrobial properties; it has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching properties. The pharmacological effect of Otoflox is due to the properties of ivermectin, clotrimasol, fluorfenicol and betamethasone.
Ivermectin belongs to the group of avermectins produced by microorganisms of Streptomyces avermitilis group. Ivermektin in nematodes, mites, insects and larvae of ovodes enhances the connection of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) with special receptors on the nerve end of the parasite, blocking the very innervation of the parasite, causing its paralysis and death.
Ivermectin leads to the death of the following ectoparasite species:
Otodectes, Haematopinus, Sarcoptes, Demodex, Gastrophilus, Hypoderma, Linognathus, Damalina, Solenopotes, Haematobia, Psoroptes, Oestrus, Melophagus and others.
Clotrimasol belongs to imidazole derivatives. The effect of clotrimazole is associated with impaired synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of fungi. As a result, the structure and properties of membranes change and cell lysis is observed. Dermatophytes, yeast fungi (genus Candida, Torulopsis glabrata, Rhodotorula), mold fungi, as well as the pathogens Pityriasis versicolor (multicoloured lichen) and erythritis are sensitive to clottrimasol. Besides, clotrimasol has antimicrobial effect on gram-positive (staphylococcus, streptococcus) and gram-negative bacteria (Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis), as well as on Trichomonas vaginalis, Malassezia furfur, Corynebacterium minussimum.
Fluorphenicol is a derivative of thiamphenicol, in which the hydroxyl group is replaced by the fluor atom, which causes its antibacterial activity against acetyltransferasosynthetic bacteria.
Fluorphenicol inhibits protein synthesis in bacterial cells. In protoplasm it binds to 70S-ribosomal subunits and inhibits the enzymatic activity of peptidyl transferase, thus reducing the synthesis of proteins in ribosomes of corresponding bacteria.
Fluorphenicol acts bacteriostatically on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, namely: Fusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Haemophilus spp. and Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Chlamydia spp.
Betamethasone belongs to the group of synthetic corticosteroids, has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, anti-allergic, antiproliferative action.
TARGET ANIMALS
Cats, dogs, rabbits
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The drug is designed to treat small unproductive animals (dogs, cats and decorative rabbits) with otitis of different etiologies, including those caused by ectoparasites and/or complicated by fungal or bacterial infections.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
When treating animals with otitis, the ears and ear canal are preliminarily cleaned of ear wax, exudate and scabs. Then the drug is buried 2 times a day, always in each ear, in the dosage according to Table 1 for 5-10 days, depending on clinical manifestations.
For better treatment, the ear is folded in half and the base is slightly massaged.
TABLE 1. Dosage of the drug
ANIMAL BODY WEIGHT | AMOUNT OF DROPS NEEDED
(IN ONE EAR) |
up to 2,2lb (1 kg) | 1 |
from 2,2-11lb (1 to 5 kg) | 2 |
from 11-22lb (5 to 10 kg) | 3 |
