Description
White crystalline powder.
Fewly soluble in water (1:170), easily soluble in boiling water and caustic alkaline solutions, difficult to dissolve in alcohol.
Aqueous solutions have a neutral reaction.
Pharmacological properties:
Streptocidum has an antimicrobial effect on streptococci, pneumococci, Escherichia coli, gas gangrene and other microorganisms, but is inactive against staphylococcus.
Streptocide is a bacteriostatic agent; in case of intravenous administration of large doses it may have a bacteriolytic effect.
The active ingredient of the preparation is a synthetic antimicrobial compound from the group of sulfonamides, which has a wide spectrum of action with respect to Gram-positive and Gram-negative coccuses, Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium spp., as well as Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces spp. and toxoplasm.
It is well absorbed by small intestine mucosa, bad stomach and large intestine, subcutaneous tissue.
By absorbing streptocid is relatively evenly distributed throughout the body, it penetrates through the hematoencephalic barrier; streptocid is mainly secreted by the kidneys.
Application:
Applied internally for angina, pharyngitis, bronchopneumonia, postpartum sepsis, gastroenteritis, pyelitis, cystitis, wound infection and other diseases, externally in the treatment of infected wounds (in the presence of pus, dead tissue activity is reduced).
Pus wounds in productive and non-productive animals;
Infected burns;
Wet inflammation of the skin;
Wound infection and other purulent inflammatory processes;
In mixtures with norsulfazole, benzilpenicillin and ephedrine streptocide is used for rhinitis in horses and cattle.
Dosage:
The drug is administered orally 4-6 times a day for 5-7 days in the following doses:
Horses and cattle 5-10 grams;
Small cattle and pigs 0.5-2 grams;
Chicken 0.2-0.4 grams;
Dogs 0.5-1.0 grams;
foxes 0.3-0.5 grams.
Externally streptocidum is used for treatment of infected wounds, ulcers, burns in the form of powder by applying it to the wound 2-3 times a day.
Before applying the preparation to the wound surface, it should be cleaned of exudate.
Contraindications:
Contraindications to the use of streptocide are diseases of the hematopoietic system, nephrosis, jade.
Cautions:
Incompatible with drugs that easily release sulfur, barbiturates, novocaine, anesthesia.
Storage:
Dry, dark place at temperature from 40-77F (5 ° C to 25 ° C).
Shelf life – 4 years from the date of manufacture.
