Furacilinum ( Nitrofurazone ) :
2-[(5-nitro-2-furanil)methylene] hydrazincarboxamide
Clinico-pharmacological group: Antibacterial and antiprotozoic agent for external and local use, nitrofuran derivative
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Antimicrobial agents, nitrofuran synthetic antibacterial agents
Furacilin – an active substance containing
1 gram ( Nitrofural ) 99.39%
Pharmacological properties:
Antimicrobial agent, has a mechanism of action different from other chemotherapeutic drugs:
microbial flavoproteins, restoring 5-nitrogroup, form highly reactive amino derivatives capable of causing conformational changes in proteins (including ribosomal) and other macromolecules, resulting in cell death.
Active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Shigella dysenteria spp., Shigella flexneri spp., Shigella boydii spp., Shigella sonnei spp., Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, Salmonella spp., etc.).
Application:
For the treatment of infected wounds and long-lasting ulcers, burns, boils, pressure sores, purulent conjunctivitis, purulent inflammatory processes in the vagina and uterus, cystitis, trypanosomiasis, mastitis, osteomyelitis, arthritis, pleurisy, for the treatment of the operating field.
Furacilin stimulates granulation in the skin, mucous membranes and muscles.
For treatment of infected wounds and long-lasting nonhealing ulcers, burns, boils, bedsores, purulent conjunctivitis, purulent inflammatory processes in the vagina and uterus, cystitis, trypanosomiasis, mastitis, osteomyelitis, arthritis, pleuritis, for treatment of the operating field.
Furacilin stimulates granulation in the skin, mucous membranes and muscles.
Dosage:
The drug is used orally:
cow 1.2-2.0 grams (2 times a day).
horses 1.5-2.5 grams (2 times a day).
sheep 0.15-0.25 grams (2 times a day).
pigs 0.18-0.3 grams (2 times a day).
dog 0.03-0, 05 grams (2 times a day).
Appointed externally in the form of a solution (1: 5000)
Outside:
Purulent wounds, bedsores, burns of II-III centuries, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, boils of the external auditory canal; osteomyelitis, paranasal empyema, pleura (cavity washing); acute external and middle otitis, angina, stomatitis, gingivitis; minor skin injuries (including abrasions, scratches, cracks, cuts).
Externally: in the form of water (1:5000) – irrigate the wounds and apply wet bandages.
Intracavity (aqueous solution): in case of maxillary sinusitis – maxillary sinusitis cavity is washed; osteomyelitis after the operation – cavity washing with the following wet dressing; pleura empyema – after the removal of pus, pleural sinusitis is washed and 20-100 ml of aqueous solution is injected.
For the preparation of aqueous solution 1 part of Nitrophural dissolve in 5000 parts 0.9% NaCl solution or distilled water. Solution is sterilized at 100 C for 30 min. Alcohol solution should be prepared on 70% ethanol.
Shelf life – 4 years from the date of manufacture.
