Description
Butomidor is a transparent colorless solution.
Butomidor is a highly effective and safe analgesic for horses, cats and dogs.
Composition :
1ml of the drug contains
Butorphanol tartrate – 10 mg
Pharmacological properties
It has strong analgesic properties, and also has sedative, hypotensive, antihistamine and adrenolytic effects.
Dosage and use :
Prolonged and strong analgesia for surgical, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures (castration, wound treatment, surgical biopsy, laparotomy, removal of orthopedic implants, vaginoplasty, premature delivery, ophthalmic procedures and upper airway instrumentation).
Premedication prior to general anesthesia (compatible with inhalants, other sedatives and analgesics).
It is used as an analgesic for severe pre- or post-operative and post-traumatic pain, and as a cough suppressant in dogs and as an anti-anorexia medicine in cats.
It has an antiemetic effect.
Doses of administration in monotherapy :
The preparation is given intravenously, intramuscularly and subcutaneously 0.3 ml per 22lb (10 kg) of weight;
Cats – intravenously 0.01 ml per 2.2lb (1 kg) weight, subcutaneously 0.04 ml per 2.2lb (1 kg) weight.
Horses – Total dose:
0.25 ml per 220lb (100 kg) animal weight intravenously.
Average duration of analgesia
In horses (0.1 mg/kg) – 80 minutes (with maintained analgesic activity at a plasma concentration of 20 to 30 mg/ml);
in dogs – about 60 minutes;
in cats – 350 minutes.
In order to enhance the desired effect, combined use with alpha-2-agonists is practiced
Contraindications: It is not recommended for animals with cardiac insufficiency, with craniocerebral trauma, functional disorders of liver and kidneys, with constipation and during lactation.
Shelf life: – 3 years.
When observing the rules of storage and transportation (dry, dark place, temperature from 59-77F (15 to 25C).
