Description
Composition:
1 ml of the preparation contains
the active substance
Florfenicol ( Ftorfenicol , Fluorophenicol ) – 300 mg.
Pharmacological properties:
Florfenicol (Fluorophenicol) is a derivative of thiamphenicol, in which the carboxyl group is replaced by the fluorine atom, which leads to its antibacterial activity against acetyltransferazosynthetic bacteria that are sensitive to chloramphenicol. It is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic synthetic drug.
Florfenicol (Fluorophenicol) suppresses protein synthesis in bacterial cells. In protoplasm, it binds to 70S ribosomal subunits in which it inhibits the enzyme activity of peptidyl transferase, and thus inhibits protein synthesis in the ribosomes of the respective bacteria.
Florfenicol (Fluorophenicol) is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, namely Escherichia coli, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella spp. (including Salmonella choleraesuis), Haemophilus spp., Proteus spp., Staphylococcus spp. (including Streptococcus suis), Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Mycoplasma hyorhinis and others.
Application:
Treatment of cattle and pigs suffering from interdigital necrobacillosis, keratoconjunctivitis, as well as respiratory diseases caused by florfenicol (fluorophenicol) sensitive microorganisms.
Treatment of pigs for infectious diseases of bacterial etiology caused by organisms sensitive to florfenicol:
– pleuropneumoniae caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and/or Haemophilus parasuis;
– atrophic rhinitis caused by Pasteurella multocida, Bordetella bronchiseptica;
– secondary bacterial infections.
Treatment of cattle with infectious diseases of bacterial etiology caused by florfenicol-sensitive microorganisms, including:
– Respiratory diseases caused by Pasteurella multocida, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Micrococcus spp..;
– secondary bacterial infections.
Dosage:
It’s injected intramuscularly or subcutaneously into the neck area.
Cattle: Intramuscularly in a dose of 1 ml per 33 lb (15 kg) of body weight. twice at intervals of 48 hours; subcutaneously once in a dose of 2 ml per 33 lb (15 kg) of body weight.
Pigs: in 1 ml per 44 lb (20 kg) of body weight twice at 48 hour intervals.
The amount of the preparation to be injected into one injection site should not exceed 10 ml.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to florfenicol (fluorophenicol).
Do not use for non-target animals.
Do not use pregnant sows, cows in the first three months of pregnancy and boars. Do not use simultaneously with thiamphenicol and chloramphenicol.
Cautions:
The slaughter of animals for meat is permitted 28 (cattle) and 21 (pigs) days after the last injection of the drug. Milk consumption for food is allowed 8 days after the last administration of the preparation. Meat and milk obtained before this date are disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the opinion of the veterinary surgeon.
Storage:
Dry dark, inaccessible for children at temperatures ranging from 40-77F (5 ° C to 25 ° C).
Shelf life – 2 years.
After the first selection of the drug from the bottle – 28 days, provided that it is stored at temperatures ranging from 40-77F (5 ° C to 25 ° C).
