Description

Description:

The drug is available as a powder for internal use in veterinary medicine. Badly soluble in water.

 

Pharmacological action:

Metronidazole is effective against a number of the simplest microorganisms, as well as against Entamoeba histolytica, Trichomonosis, Ciliata – Balantidium coli and Balantidium suis, Giardia cell, Lamblia. When used internally, the drug is quickly absorbed in the body, penetrating into the tissues, as well as animal organs. Metronidazole has a patency through the placenta, has a cumulative effect in the liver. The drug comes out of the animal’s body after a day or 2 days in the same form, mainly with urine or products of vital functions.

 

 

Indications:

The drug is used to treat trichomoniasis in large cattle, dysentery or balance diasis in pigs, histomoniasis of poultry (ducks, geese).

 

 

Dosage:

For the treatment of cattle (bulls, cows) from trichomoniasis the drug is used orally: 2.2 lb (1 kg) of weight – 10 mg of the drug. Duration of treatment is 3 – 4 days.

Metronidazole is mixed with water and shaken thoroughly for 1-2 minutes. The resulting solution is washed with an animal’s preputation or vagina about 2 or 4 times every 24 hours. The solution consumption for washing is 25 – 50 ml.

For the treatment of pigs from balance diasis, the drug is used orally: 2.2 lb (1 kg) – 10 mg of the drug in the morning and evening. Duration of treatment is 3 days, if symptoms of the disease can be repeated after 7 – 10 days.

For treatment of geese and turkeys from Histomonas mellagridis: 2.2 lb (1 kg) weight – 10 mg of the preparation 3 times a day or 2.2 lb (1 kg) feed – 1.5 grams of the preparation once a day. Duration of treatment is 10 days.

 

 

Side effects:

During treatment with the drug, pets may develop an allergic reaction to the main component of metronidazole. At the first symptoms of allergies, the treatment should be discontinued and desensitizing therapy should be given.

 

 

Contraindications:
The contraindication to the use of the drug is the sensitivity to the main component of the drug, as well as pregnancy.

 

 

Cautions:

Consumption of human meat from a medicinal animal is possible only after 3 days from the last day of treatment. Milk consumption for human consumption is possible after three days after using the medicine. Foodstuffs received from farm animals before this time are disposed of according to the veterinarian’s opinion.

 

 

Storage:

Permissible storage temperature from 14-105F (-10C to 40C).

Store the veterinary product in a dark and dry room, avoiding direct rays and moisture. Storage is carried out separately from animal feed.
Protect from contact with children and possible contact with human food.

The term of storage of the medicine is 2 years.
