PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Colistin is an antibiotic of a group of polymixins, which are synthesized by the aerobic spore-forming Bacillus polymyxa stick. The preparation acts bactericidally on Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Bordetella spp.).
Colistin binds to the phospholipids of the cytoplasmic membrane and increases its permeability to both intra- and extracellular components, which leads to destruction of the bacteria cell.
When taken inside the colistine sulfate has a weak resorption capacity (almost not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract). It is excreted through the intestine. It does not have a cumulative effect.
TARGET ANIMALS
Calves, pigs, chickens, geese, turkeys, ducks.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Treatment of calves with undeveloped pancreas (up to 3 months old), pigs and poultry (broilers, laying hens, geese, turkeys, ducks) in case of diseases of digestive tract caused by microorganisms sensitive to colistin.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
The drug is used orally, at the rate:
calves – together with feed, drinking water or milk for 3-7 days in a dose of 1-2 grams of the drug to 220lb (100 kg) body weight once a day;
pigs – together with feed or drinking water 1-2 grams of the preparation per 220lb (100 kg) body weight once a day or 200 grams of the preparation per 1000 liters of drinking water for 3-7 days;
poultry – together with feed or drinking water 1.25 g of the preparation per 220jb (100 kg) body weight or 100-200 g of the preparation per 1000 liters of drinking water for 3-7 days.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
It is allowed to slaughter animals, including poultry, for meat within 3 days after the last application of the preparation. The meat received before the specified period is disposed of or fed to non-productive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinary medicine doctor. There is no period of egg cartridges.
Shelf life -3 years.
After the first selection of the preparation from the bottle: 28 days if stored in a dry, dark place at temperatures between 40-77F (5° to 25° C).
STORAGE
In a dry, dark place inaccessible to children at temperatures between 40-77F (5° to 25°C).
Shelf life after dilution is 24 hours.
