Structure

0.8 g of the drug (one tablet) contains active ingredients:

Sulfadimethoxine – 250 mg;

Trimethoprim – 50 mg.

 

 

Pharmacological properties

Tablets – a drug of a wide spectrum of bactericidal action.

Sulfadimethoxin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including:  Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., E. coli., Pasteurella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp., Klebsiella spp. , as well as against representatives of  Coccidia, Toxoplasma  and  Rickettsia , less active against protea. The mechanism of its action is associated with PABA and competitive inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, which leads to disruption of the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate acid, necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.

Tablets is a chemotherapeutic drug that has a bactericidal effect against gram-positive ( Staphylococcus  spp ., Streptococcus  spp ., Clostridium  spp ., Corynebacterium  spp .  , Etc.) and gram-negative ( E.  coli , Salmonella  spp ., Klebsiella  spp ., Proteus  spp . la  spp ., Bordetella  spp . etc.) microorganisms. The drug inhibits bacterial reductase, which turns dehydrofolic acid into tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and nucleic acids. This trimethoprim blocks one of the main processes of bacterial metabolism in the path of protein synthesis.

 

Application

Cattle : treatment of diarrhea, catarrhal bronchopneumonia, eimeriosis, colisepticemia, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, pneumonia, staphylococcal abscesses caused by microorganisms sensitive to trimethoprim and sulfadimethoxin.

Horses : treatment of bronchopneumonia, dyspepsia, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, genitourinary infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to trimethoprim and sulfadimethoxin.

Sheep, goats : treatment of pasteurellosis, salmonellosis, colisepticemia, pneumonia, diarrhea caused by microorganisms sensitive to trimethoprim and sulfadimethoxin.

Pigs : treatment of pasteurellosis, colienterotoxemia, gastroenteritis, salmonellosis, coccidiosis, balantidiosis, pleuropneumonia, dysentery caused by microorganisms sensitive to trimethoprim and sulfadimethoxin.

Dogs, cats : treatment of pneumonia, mycoplasmosis, enterocolitis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, coccidiosis, isosporosis, endometritis, mastitis caused by microorganisms sensitive to trimethoprim and sulfadimethoxin.

 

Dosage

Orally with food or water individually or in a group method at the doses indicated in the table:  

 

The drug is used 1 time per day for 5-10 days with eimeriosis, balantidiosis, isosporosis. With protozoa, animals are treated with two to three courses of 5 days each. The interval between courses is 5-10 days.

 

Contraindications

Do not use with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as with diseases of the blood, liver, kidneys.

 

Warnings

Slaughter of animals for meat (cattle, sheep, goats, horses, pigs) is allowed after 10 days, the use of milk for human consumption – 4 days after the last use of the drug.

Meat and milk obtained before the indicated time period are disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinarian doctor.

 

Release form

10 tablets in a blister packaged in a cardboard box.

 

Storage

A dry, dark place inaccessible to children at a temperature of   40-77F  (5 ° C to 25 ° C).

Do not store with food.

 

Shelf life  – 2 years from the date of manufacture.
