Description:
Cylindrical tablets, which have a flat surface with a notch and chamfer, white or light grey.
Composition:
1 tablet (0.8 g) of the preparation contains
the active substance:
Metronidazole – 250 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Metronidazole belongs to the 5-nitroimidazole group. The mechanism of action of metronidazole consists in biochemical reduction of 5-nitrogroup of metronidazole by intracellular transport proteins of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. The reconstructed 5-nitro group of metronidazole interacts with the microbial cell DNA, inhibiting the synthesis of its nucleic acids, which leads to the death of the microorganism. It is effective against Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolytica, Bacteroides spp. (Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides vulgatus), Fusobacterium spp, Veillonela spp., some gram-positive bacteria (Eubacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Peptococcus spp., Peptostreptococcus spp.).
Application :
Treatment of cattle, sheep, pigs, fur animals, dogs, cats and poultry with trichomoniasis, dysentery, diarrhea, colitis, stomatitis, as well as diseases of the respiratory, urogenital, gastrointestinal tract and skin caused by microorganisms sensitive to metronidazole.
Metrodinazole is effective in the treatment of:
anaerobic infections;
Trichomonas (parasites);
intestinal giardia;
inflammatory bowel disease;
sepsis.
To treat Giardia
For anaerobic infectious meningitis
Dosing for purulent cholangitis
In the treatment of plasmacytic/lymphocytic enteritis in dogs
In treatment of plasmacytic/lymphocytic colitis in dogs
In amebiasis, balantidiosis in dogs
Treatment of hepatic encephalopathy
Lambliasis (Giardia)
Other parasites
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Oral and dental infections
Other bacterial infections that cause diarrhea or sepsis
Giardia is a microscopic parasite that lives in a dog’s intestines.
It is transmitted with contaminated water, soil or food
Is a strong antimicrobial, mainly used as an antidiarrheal to treat inflammation of the colon
